History and features of  Refosco

The Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso has ancient origins, if we accept the hypothesis that it is the famous Roman red wine called Picinum, of which Pliny the Elder tells us to be present in what today is Friuli Venezia Giulia. The bouquet is very broad, warm, ripe, spicy, with notes of dried flowers, plums and blackberries. The fruit is enveloping, velvety, earthy aromas are not lacking and there are hints of china and other balsamic. In any case it is very elegant, never pungent and always sumptuous. On the palate the Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso is structured, fresh, defined by vigorous tannins, but that over the years become fine. The taste is soft, the intense and mottled sip of licorice, eucalyptus and pepper finish. It is a complex wine and not so simple to find, only look for bottles with a minimum of 2 years of aging in order to best enjoy this excellent Friulian red wine. But above all trust him, few know him, but as usual we have a big treasure hidden in the garden behind the house and no one is there.
