History and features of  Picolit

The Picolit (pronounced correct picolìt, from the homonymous voice in the Friulian language, which indicates the small size of the peduncle, pecol or picol) is a white grape native of Friuli, known and appreciated all over the world.

The particularity of this vine lies in the fact that due to a lack of pollination, few grapes are grown on the bunches. The scarce quantity of grains on each bunch ensures that when they reach maturity they become particularly sweet. The subsequent vinification gives rise to a wine with a marked sweetness that can also be aged in barrique.
